The Pikes Peak requirement, and why it matters more after a storm
The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department licenses contractors for Colorado Springs and the surrounding jurisdictions, and it requires a passed ICC contractor exam. It accepts ICC National Standardized or ICC Colorado Standard exams taken on or after January 1, 2017.
Two details do real work for a homeowner. First, PPRBD does not reciprocate. A contractor licensed in Denver, or anywhere else, is not thereby licensed here. Second, PPRBD states plainly that passing an ICC exam is not itself a licence to practice and does not guarantee licensing in any jurisdiction: the contractor still has to apply to the department and meet all its requirements.
